Roles for IT Professional
1. Systems Management
The main role of the systems manager is to keep computers running however they have to do several things to do this job. The systems manager has to do things such as managing IT budgets and keeping all of the computers working with new technology.
2. Developers & Programmers
Developers and programmers create the software which is used by various people and system managers.
3. Data Analysis
A data analyst gathers information on things about the company for example how much the company sold in the last month and then presents the data in a chart or a results table so that the company can take measures suited to their data.
4. Project Management
The project manager has to oversee everything the company does and sells including the staff and the websites and managing all the data.
5. Support & Training
A technical support officer is similar to the systems manager however they manage the hardware part of the system and have to maintain the upgrades. The trainers have to make sure new staff know and understand the software which is used at the company.


Professional Standards
1. Acceptable standards & behaviour
All businesses have acceptable standards and behaviour, this isn’t necessarily the law but it is what people would accept from the professionals.
2. Professional Bodies
BCS is an organisation which works with the government to give rules of suitable standards of behaviour and codes of conduct. Breaking these rules isn’t necessarily breaking the law however it can be very offensive.
